The next time you are tempted to complain about your job, spare a thought for this guy.
Ramesh Sahu works in the sanitation department of Calcutta, cleaning out the city's sewers.
Thousands of people are employed in the sanitation department through non government agencies.

Despite a rise in the number of deaths of manhole workers every year, workers regularly go into the manholes without any protective gear.
As a result of this, many of them contract deadly diseases and die of unnatural causes.
Deadly gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide and methane can build up in the sewers, not to mention harsh chemicals used in homes and industry.
Government guidelines say that sewer workers must be equipped with protective gear, including helmets, gloves, goggles and instruments to check for poisonous gases. But, clearly, not all contractors follow these guidelines.

People will do anything just to earn money even if it's one of the worst jobs in the world. But I wonder why their government allow these sewer workers to do their job without protective gears. Or maybe it's this worker who's not following guidelines?
U're correct, Anney.
Sometimes we can't even understand why some people want to do 'nasty' jobs, but again, this is a harsh world, everything needs money. People have to sacrifice themselves and do things that they even don't enjoy just to survive.
Based on the guidelines from India government, these workers must be equipped by protection gears, but you know, there must be some people who don't follow.
Well sera....
For ur info..that only guidelines...
Do u think or seen any government worker doin a sewage work in india....as i have seen there no such..its all done by contractors...and as u can see the man hole is havin diameter which is diffecult come out without any equipment so think with equipments....
Here they think about profit and loss..in cash but not in human lives....coz they know there is another guy who will do the same job....so why to spend on equipments
@Maverick,
Yeah everywhere in this world tends to think more on profit rather than the safety of the workers. Thanks for the comment, right from India :)
